Fish House goes into administration

Boutique hotel and restaurant the Fish House in Chilgrove, West Sussex, has gone into administration.

Chris Stevens and Ian Vickers, partners at insolvency firm FRP Advisory, were appointed on 31 March to look after the business, which employs 30 full-time staff.

The business, which contains a restaurant with 100 covers, and a hotel featuring 15 de luxe rooms and spa facilities, was refurbished by restaurateur and hotelier David Barnard for £4m in 2009. Barnard previously ran the Crab at Chieveley.

Commenting on the administration, Stevens said: "The Fish House is a popular destination for visitors from both within and beyond Sussex. We will continue to trade the business with a view to selling it as a going concern. This will help to safeguard employees' jobs and enable the business to seek to honour all current bookings."
