Ten restaurants to showcase Taste of Edinburgh 2011
The first 10 restaurants taking part in Taste of Edinburgh 2011 have been announced.
Restaurant Martin Wishart, Chez Roux, Cuccina at Hotel Missoni, First Coast, Mark Greenaway at Hawke & Hunter, Ondine, Plumed Horse, Tigerlily, Vincaffé, Wedgwood plus Cook School by Martin Wishart have all been confirmed, with five more to be announced shortly.
The festival will allow visitors to brush up on their culinary skills, with cooking classes from AEG, Cook School by Martin Wishart and classes from the Waitrose Cookery School.
There will also be demonstrations at the Taste Theatre and samples of Scottish and British food and drink from more than 100 artisan producers.
Tickets for the festival, which is being run in partnership with AEG, officially went on sale yesterday. The organisers expect more than 25,000 people to visit the Meadows to see the line-up of restaurants on the new dates of 1-3 July.
Taste Festivals managing director Justin Clarke said: "Taste of Edinburgh is back for the fifth year and with the combination of our original launch venue, the new summer date and some of the finest chefs in the country signed up, this year it really is going to be the most eagerly anticipated festival yet."
Taste of Edinburgh was launched in 2007 and over the past five years has attracted a host of household names, including Jean-Christophe Novelli, Hugh-Fearnley-Whittingstall, Tom Kitchin, Rachel Allen, Tristan Welch, Giorgio Locatelli, Nick Nairn, Aldo Zilli, Lady Claire Macdonald and Alan Murchison.
