Nominees revealed for 2011 Craft Guild of Chefs Awards

Forty nominees for the 2011 Craft Guild of Chefs Awards have been announced.

The list sees Lisa Allen from Northcote up against Ed Wilson (Terroirs) and Abdul Yaseen (Cinnamon Kitchen) for the Restaurant chef award, while Bistrot Bruno Loubet and Viajante in London take on Pea Porridge in Bury St Edmonds for the New Restaurant Award.

Other awards in the 13-strong shortlist include banqueting chef, contract catering chef and development chef categories.

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at the Westminster Park Plaza Hotel on 2 June. Two additional awards will be presented on the night.

The Special Award, chosen by the committee of the Craft Guild and the people's choice award recognising an unsung hero in the industry.

The shortlist for this award is:

  • David Brown, Stable Family Home Trust,
  • David Cavalier, CH & Co
  • David Croft, former chef/volunteer fundraiser
  • Vicky Lord, Staffordshire County Council
  • Trevor Nelson, retired executive chef, Compass Group
  • John Retallick, chairman of the Craft Guild of Chefs Vice Presidents' Council
  • David Sharland, The Seafood Restaurant, Padstow
