New GM appointed at London's Chancery Court hotel

A new general manager has been appointed at London's Chancery Court hotel, which is due to end its association with Marriott International in June.

Matthias Roeke will take over the helm of the five-star, 356-bedroom hotel from 11 June 2011 when the property ceases to be branded as a Renaissance hotel.

Originally from Germany, he will report directly to the hotel's owner, New World Hotel Management, and will oversee a major renovation of the property.

"It is my first time working in London and it is a city I have always wanted to live in," he said.

Roeke joins the Chancery Court from Shangri-La Hotels, where he worked for eight years, the past three years as general manger of the company's flagship hotel in Beijing. Previously, he worked for Inter-Continental Hotels for five years.

The current general manager of the Renaissance London Chancery Court, Teresa Maw, is to remain with Marriott.
