Compass buys Elior's Dutch business and Sweden's BGP Resurs

Global food service firm the Compass Group has continued its international expansion with the acquisition of two businesses in Sweden and the Netherlands.

The company, which generated annual revenues of over £14.5b in the year to 30 September 2010, confirmed Compass Nederland had acquired Elior's food services operation in the Netherlands for an undisclosed fee.

It also announced that Eurest Services AB in Sweden had acquired BGP Resurs AB from Steringer Resurs AB, a food service company based in northern Sweden, for a cash consideration of SKr16m (£1.6m).

BGP serves the business and industry and leisure sectors and revenue in the year to 31 December 2010 was Skr26.5m (£2.6m).

In a statement, Compass Group said the acquisition of BGP would provide a valuable platform from which to grow its food service business in the north of Sweden.
