Jurys Inn to open second Newcastle hotel

Jurys Inn is to launch a second hotel in Newcastle in the summer. The 203-bedroom Jurys Inn Newcastle Gateshead Quays will open on 25 August.

Located on Gateshead Quays next to the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, the hotel will have a bar and restaurant overlooking the River Tyne, as well as three conference rooms.

The hotel will create up to 80 jobs. A recruitment fair will be held Jury's Inn Newcastle on 11 June.

The midmarket group, which has 31 hotels in city-centre locations, already has a 274-bedroom hotel in the centre of Newcastle.

David Malanaphy, cluster general manager for the two hotels, said the new property was opening in response to an increase in demand for accommodation in the city.

"We're keen to work with the local community and the local workforce, to ensure the hotel is a valuable asset to the area," he said. "Debbie Brook, our sales manager across both properties, is Newcastle born and bred, so we're certainly making use of her local knowledge."
