Acorn winners 2011 – Vidur Kapur

Age 29
Position Hotel manager, Guoman Hotels - Charing Cross
Nominator Riddian Davies
Proudest career moment It has been the whole package, really, from the time I embarked on this career path as a trainee in south Africa to now.
Greatest inspiration My father, Raman Kapur, for his commitment to his beliefs and passion for giving others opportunities and investing in their lives. Also my general manager, Riddian Davies, whose attention to detail is second to none.
Ambition Making steady and consistent progress within my career, making the right choices, and influencing those around me to excel.

After training in India and South Africa, Vidur Kapur started work in London as assistant F&B manager at the Thistle London Heathrow, where he then added the roles of F&B manager, front of house manager and revenue manager to his CV.

In December 2008 he was given the role of operations manager at the Guoman Charing Cross Hotel, where he played a key role in delivering sales of £12.4m, up 4% on the previous year. This success saw him promoted to hotel manager in 2009.
