Acorn winners 2011 – Robin Vermeire

Age 25
Position Assistant executive housekeeper, the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square
Nominator Rachel Phillips
Proudest career moment My proudest career moment was being promoted to assistant executive housekeeper earlier this year.
Greatest inspiration Two people that really stand out are Mark Aldridge, now director of sales and marketing at the Hawaii Edition, and Jens Herklotz, director of food and beverage at the Amsterdam Marriott.
Ambition I would like to be a general manager with Marriott in London before I am 30. The hotel industry is all about our people and developing them, there's no better role to do so than being a general manager.

Robin Vermeire started his career in 2008 as a trainee with Marriott in the Renaissance Vila Sol Spa Resort in the Algarve, Portugal.

He joined the Marriott Grosvenor Square as a receptionist in 2009 and within three months became sales and marketing co-ordinator. This year he was appointed assistant executive housekeeper and is responsible for managing 50 people and a yearly budget of £720,000.
