Brakspear posts slim profit for 2010
Family-run pub company Brakspear has reported "solid results" for 2010, despite difficult trading conditions.
The group reported £3.2m operating profit before tax for the year ending 31 December 2010. Director David Nathan said: "This was a solid performance in light of the continuing decline in beer sales and pub visits."
Profit was down marginally on the previous year (£3.4m) but like-for-like sales were in line with "the previous year and in line with our expectations," added Nathan.
Brakspear has a 144-strong tenanted estate and the company invested more than £1m on upgrading and developing four sites over the past year. During the year, it also increased its product range "to enable operators to offer a wider selection to appeal to their specific customer base", according to Nathan.
