Pabulum wins £1.8m of deals in Croydon
Education specialist Pabulum has negotiated a series of deals across the London Borough of Croydon that has culminated in new contracts valued at more than £1.8m a year.
Over 90 schools in the area have been involved in re-tender processes in the past few months, following the council's decision to cease central management of the borough's service in 2010.
Eden Foodservice, the specialist school catering division of Rentokil Initial, previously serviced the majority of Croydon schools.
Commenting on Pabulum's success, managing director Nelson Williams said: "We're delighted to be bringing our range of healthy, freshly prepared meals to over 30 schools and approximately 12,000 students across the borough of Croydon.
"A third of the schools involved have now chosen Pabulum as their future catering partner. Some have grouped themselves together to form operational clusters while others are operating individually, but in every case, Pabulum will retain its hands-on, personable and accessible approach, delivering tailored solutions to their catering needs."
Pabulum put its Croydon success down to its focus on food and people and said that in most cases it set up food tasting sessions with pupils, teachers and staff as part of its presentation.
Williams said: "Actually seeing and tasting our healthy, nutritionally well-balanced dishes brought the whole concept of ‘Honestly Good Food' to life and when the schools realised that we tailor our menus and operations to meet the needs of each individual school, many were impressed."
The education sector now makes up more than 80% of Pabulum's business.
