Former Brunelli head chef Stefano Stecca is launching a new restaurant in north London, Caterer has learnt.

Osteria Stecca, which is set to open in March, will be an Italian eaterie in St John's Wood, located on the site of the former A-Z Restaurants site Rosmarino. It will comprise a 50-cover dining room with 20-seat terrace and will also have a small bar.

Stecca, who was previously the chef at Rosmarino under A-Z Restaurants, will be the chef-patron of the new restaurant. The menu will include dishes such as pan-fried scallops with white asparagus; roast turbot with spinach sauté and raspberry millefeuille with a balsamic vinegar sauce. Average spend will be £24 for three courses, excluding wine.

The restaurant manager will be Luca Ricco and the restaurant has been designed by David Dalmada, who previously developed the interiors for London restaurants La Petite Maison and Zafferano.

Stecca told Caterer he was absolutely thrilled about the new venture.

"This is my first restaurant and I am really excited to be owner and chef at the same time," he said. "I want to create a really good neighbourhood restaurant where people come not just for business but also for a real dining experience."
