Travelodge to open in Enfield

Monday 21 March 2011 15:02

Travelodge is to open a 132-bedroom hotel on a new industrial park in Enfield, North London.

The hotel is expected to be open in time for the London Olympics in 2012 and aims to create 30 new local jobs. All entry-level roles will go to the local long-term unemployed through Job Centre Plus.

Travelodge, which is developing the property with Frontier Estates, has stepped in to operate the property after a franchisee for Express by Holiday Inn was unable to proceed with the contract.

Nick DeBois, MP for Enfield North, said that by working with Job Centre Plus and employing unemployed local residents for entry-level roles, Travelodge is showing a strong commitment to Enfield.

"Opening 132 hotel rooms in the borough will also help us attract business and leisure customers to Enfield, ensuring they spend their money in our local shops rather than going elsewhere in London," he said.

Tony O'Brien, UK development director for Travelodge, said the company had been seeking the right site in Enfield, where there is a shortage of accommodation, for some time. "The development at Lumina Park, with its prominence to the A10 and good on-site car parking provision, is perfect for us," he said.
