Leisure and catering employees see business travel as a perk

Friday 21 April 2006 10:10

Employees in the leisure and catering sectors see business travel as a welcome part of their job.

This is according to the annual Barclaycard Business Travel Survey which questioned 2,500 Barclaycard commercial card holders about all aspects of business travel, from airlines and hotels to online bookings.

Employees in the leisure and catering industry spend over a third of a week (2.6 days) and one in six (4.7) nights of the month out of the office travelling for business.

Most of those surveyed, a massive 80%, said they enjoyed their time spent travelling for business, mainly because it gave them the chance to see the world.

Over half of those surveyed (53%) thought that they were travelling more for business than the previous year, more than any other employee sector.

More key facts of leisure and catering employees

  • People in the leisure and catering industry spend £99.90 on a hotel per night
  • 66% have used a budget hotel in the past year
