BII appoints new chairman after Martin Grant's resignation

BII has appointed Bernard Brindley as its new chairman, following the resignation of Martin Grant last week.

Brindley is a regional chairman of BII and is also the chairman of the Pub Independent Rent Review Scheme (PIRRS).

He said: "All organisations evolve and change and now it's BII's turn. There is much to do and Martin wanted the new team to take up this activity and take it forward. He believed his job was done and we are very grateful for Martin's unstinting time and effort as chairman, and we wish him well.

"Our reorganisation is important and significant as it will provide a new focus and point of contact with our members."

Grant's departure follows the decision late last year of former chief executive Neil Robertson to leave BII. He has been replaced by Peter Thomas, who will remain in the post until April next year.
