Holroyd Howe goes after private schools meals market

Thursday 13 July 2006 00:00
Independent contract caterer Holroyd Howe is to launch an education division for the private schools market.

The announcement, made at its strategic review in London last week, is designed to "meet the changing face of school catering - including legislative requirements".

Managing director Rick Holroyd said there were no plans to move into the less-lucrative state-school market.

The company, which has grown organically over 10 years to 100 contracts and £33m annual turnover, did not rule out buying a smaller player "providing there was value in doing so and a good cultural fit".

The company's recent plans to set up a regional office in Leeds may point to an acquisition in the North of England. A spokesman said the regional office would create closer links with clients in developing northern cities.

Holroyd outlined plans to grow to 175 contracts and about £60m turnover in the next three years.
