Noel Mahoney: BaxterStorey has used current economic climate to drive innovation

BaxterStorey boasts strong business growth in 2009 with a string of new contract wins despite the challenging economic climate.

The independent food services provider has generated more than 30 new clients this year including auditor Ernst & Young, fashion house Hermes and law firm Addleshaw Goddard.

In particular, BaxterStorey has benefited from buoyant growth in Scotland and Ireland. Turnover for Scotland has doubled during 2009 and Ireland has increased its turnover by more than 140%, now catering across 41 sites compared with 14 in 2008.

BaxterStorey managing director Noel Mahony said the ongoing difficult trading environment has not hindered the company. “We’ve used the current market conditions to drive innovation and deliver our clients with even greater value.”

Mahony cites the company’s award-winning focus on sustainability as a source of success. “Clients want to save money. Being able to provide cost-effective green solutions to support catering services which in turn generate significant cost savings has been of real interest to both our new and existing client base.”

BaxterStorey this year won a Major Commendation at the Business Commitment to the Environment awards  and the Sustainable Business Award at the Cateys.

“We are delighted with our progress so far this year. We fully anticipated the difficult trading environment and we have been pleasantly surprised by the new business grown,” added Mahony.

“I don’t think we are anywhere near close to the end of the market downturn, however we are well positioned to maximise the opportunities ahead of us and we are confident that BaxterStorey will continue to thrive.”
