German budget brand Motel One set to launch in London

German budget hotel group Motel One is believed to have signed an agreement to open its first property in London.

The 258-bedroom hotel is set to open near the Tower of London in 2014, with room rates expected to be around £79.

Earlier this year the company announced that it was entering the UK market with two hotels in Edinburgh. The first, a 208-bedroom property in the Castlehill area of the city, is due to launch in summer 2012; the second, a 140-bedroom hotel, will open on Princes Street in 2013.

Motel One currently operates 36 hotels in Germany and Austria.
