Lynn Hood to head refurbishment of iconic golf hotel and resort, the Belfry
The former operations director of City Inn has been appointed managing director of the Belfry hotel and golf resort in Warwickshire.
Lynn Hood took over the helm of the 324-bedroom hotel, managed by the De Vere Group and set within 550-acres in Warwickshire, last month. Her immediate challenge will be to oversee a comprehensive refurbishment of the resort following the property's acquisition by KSL Partners in the summer.
The new owner is an American investment firm which specialises in travel and leisure business and has a long history of investing in golf resorts. Its purchase of the Belfry, which has hosted more Ryder Cups than any other venue, marks KSL's first foray into Europe.
Hood, who was general manager at the Malmasion in Glasgow before joining City Inn (which later became the Mint Hotel group before being rebranded as Hilton Worldwide properties) in 2000, said she is very excited to be taking on her new role.
"My key challenge is to take back the Belfry to its former glory," she explained. "Our new owners are experts in running resorts and are the right people to be behind the business. As well as a total refurbishment of all the bedrooms and public areas, we shall be improving the sense of arrival at the resort."
Stephen Carter, chairman of De Vere Cameron House on Loch Lomond, has been overseeing the running of the Belfy since De Vere took over the management of the hotel following its sale to KSL Partners, but will return to his position north of the border in the next few weeks.
