Do you think London will win the Olympic bid?
I think the Olympic bid committee has put forward a compelling case to host the Olympics. However, I have serious concerns about our ability to manage serious projects. We haven't had a particularly good history of these sorts of things. We need to make sure we don't end up with another "Dome". We want a Sydney Olympics, not an Atlanta.

Yes, I think we will win it as long as we all unite behind the bid. As a city, London has so much to offer in terms of culture and hospitality, and winning the Olympics would bring a lasting benefit to the city's infrastructure. It would be great for the country and for business opportunities.

I hope London will win because it would be great for us. I could retire. But I think Madrid might win because it's so easy to get around. Our big problem is transport. We have only eight years and we are still bumbling around finishing off our side of the Channel Tunnel link. But there has been a good energy about the bid, and in a tough group London is the most exciting and hip city - even more so than New York.
