Michelin’s 2007 Guide for Great Britain and Ireland has awarded two Channel Islands restaurants a star each, bringing the regions haul to three Michelin-starred eateries.
The Atlantic restaurant in Jersey, under the direction of head chef Mark Jordan, has picked up its first star, and Guernsey’s Christophe has been honoured with its first star just 11 months after opening.
Christophe chef proprietor Christophe Vincent said he was thrilled having won the star: “I’m very happy to have been awarded a Michelin star and it’s always a bonus to have your achievements recognised.”
Scotland has seen two additions with Edinburgh’s The Kitchin and Glenapp Castle in South Ayrshire each being given one star. But the country’s total of Michelin-starred restaurants remains at nine, as the Plumed Horse and Ballacgulish House each lost their existing stars.
In Wales Michelin awarded The Crown at Whitebrook its first star, while it stripped Ynyshir Hall of its star, leaving the country with a total of two Michelin-starred restaurants.
The Republic of Ireland has seen one addition to its already existing stable of three Michelin-starred restaurants, with Chapter One in Dublin gaining its first star.
