Sodexho appoints new financial director for UK and Ireland

Contract caterer Sodexho has appointed Aidan Connolly to the role of finance director for the UK and Ireland.

Connolly, who takes up the position with immediate effect, joins the company from holiday group MyTravel UK, where he was finance director and responsible for reconstructing the struggling business and returning it to profitability.

Previously, he was group finance director and then chief executive officer at home furnishings firm Walker Greenbank and held senior director roles in a number of private companies in the UK, Europe and the USA.

Connolly replaces Debbie White who has been promoted to the role of global projects director for Sodexho Alliance.

Sodexho recently reported strong figures for 2006 that saw a 6.6% jump in worldwide turnover to €12.8b (£8.7b).

In the year to 31 August, pre-tax profit grew by 51.6% from €332m (£226m) to €505m (£343m) – boosted by its performance in the food market and profitable vouchers business.
