A riverside restaurant and tea rooms in the Cotwold village of Bourton-on-the-Water has changed hands.

Known as the Venice of the Cotswolds due to its five landmark bridges that straddle the River Windrush, Bourton-on-the-Water is regularly voted one of the prettiest villages in England.

Tourist attractions in the village include Birdland, the Model Village, the Cotswold Pottery, and the Cotswold Motor Museum

Vernes restaurant is named after 19th century French author and father of science fiction, Jules Verne.

Packed with period features such as inglenook fireplaces and exposed beams and stonework, the restaurant combines a 60-seat restaurant, a 30-seat tea room, an ice cream parlour, and small al fresco dining area to the front.

There is also three-bedroom owners’ accommodation.

The Bristol office of Christie + Co sold the new lease to Craig Whitehouse off a guide price of £89,950 on behalf of David Waters.
