Butterfly Hotels branches out

East Anglian hotel group Butterfly Hotels has branched out of the region and acquired a new property in Nottingham.

The deal for the 90-bedroom, upper-budget Citilodge hotel brings the group's portfolio to seven.

Clive Nicholls, operations director at Butterfly, said: "The vibrancy of Nottingham, its central location and its excellent transport links has made the city one of our target locations."

The group, which manages and operates its portfolio under the Ramada and Corus hotel brands, plans to continue its expansion and acquire a further three new-build properties across the Midlands by the end of 2008, taking its total portfolio to 10.

The group, which was formed in 1987 but acquired by its current owners - a private investment consortium - in 2004, confirmed it intends to retain the 35-strong staff at the Citilodge hotel.
