Andrew Mackay appointed general manager at Samling hotel

Andrew Mackay has been appointed general manager of Von Essen's Samling hotel in Cumbria. Mackay joins the hotel, whose restaurant has recently been awarded a Michelin star, with more than 15 years' experience in hotels and hospitality.

Recently he was general manager of Linthwaite House, and prior to that he was general manager of the Greenaway for Von Essen hotels, and hotel manager for Macdonald hotels at the Old England in Cumbria.

Nick Romano, chief executive of Von Essen hotels said: "We are delighted to welcome Andrew Mackay to the Samling hotel as general manager. Andrew has a wealth of experience in the hospitality industry working in top hotels across the country and had an extremely successful tenure managing our Greenway property.

"We are looking forward to an exciting future at the Samling hotel with Andrew at the helm."
