Aramark chief executive Bill Toner has been elected as the new chairman of the council of the British Hospitality Association.
The boss of the contract catering group replaces Alan Parker, chief executive of leisure company Whitbread.
Toner said that the council had a positive role to play in the hospitality industry’s relations with government. He outlined key concerns in the areas of qualifications, taxation and the promotion of tourism.
The BHA council is made up of 14 key chief executives from the hospitality industry. It was set up in June 1998 to lobby government and play a leading role in major industry initiatives.
In other changes, David Williams succeeds Andrew Guy as the chairman of the association’s national executive. Williams is the managing director of the Ambassador hotel, Llandudno, Wales, and has been vice-chairman for two years.
Graham Grose succeeds Williams as vice-chairman. He is managing director of the Thurlestone hotel in Devon.
