British Trust Hotels has increased its number of area managers to three with the promotion of Donald Allan. He joined the company in 2000 as a deputy general manager at the Isle of Mull hotel, Argyll, and in March became general manager at the Norseman hotel in Wick, Caithness.
Christian Knerr has joined the InterContinental Dubai hotel as executive sous chef. He moves from a five-star hotel in Stuttgart, Germany, where he had the same role and title.
Jurys Inns has welcomed Padhraic Flavin to its new Heathrow hotel as general manager. He has moved to the airport hotel, which opened on 5 November, from Jurys Inn Croydon, where he performed the same role.
Jeremy's restaurant at Borde Hill on the outskirts of Haywards Heath in West Sussex has chosen Rupert Gleadow as its head chef. He has joined from Langshott Manor in Surrey, where he was senior sous chef.
Mandy Jennings has left Marriott UK, where she was head of agency, conference and incentive sales, to become director of sales at De Vere Group. She assumes responsibility for the company's two brands, De Vere Hotels and Village Hotels & Leisure Clubs.
Crown Venue Catering has selected John Wolbers as operations director with responsibility for corporate accounts. He was director of operations for Chelsea Village in London, which has two hotels and does 4,000 covers daily.
Newly created contract caterer BaxterStorey has been joined by Rebecca Stevenson in the role of business development manager. Stevenson previously held a business development position with contract caterer Yes Dining and has also worked as a consultant for food service catering consultants Tricon.
The Macdonald Last Drop Village hotel in Bolton, Lancashire, has appointed Patricia Leeds as executive housekeeper. She was executive housekeeper at the London Victoria Plaza hotel. Meanwhile, the Watersreach restaurant in Manchester has said goodbye to its restaurant manager, Neil Robinson, who has joined the Last Drop in the same role.
Patrice Bachelier has joined City Café in the City Inn Westminster hotel as general manager. He was general manager at Gabrielle's restaurant, London.
Move of the week
Guoman, Thistle Hotels' new luxury brand, has made area general manager Jurgen Sutherland additionally responsible for the running of the company's newly refurbished Cumberland hotel, at the top of London's Park Lane, making him general manager.
