French restaurant Le Bouchon Bordelais in Battersea in south west London is to launch a second eatery in the capital this summer.

Le Bouchon Breton will be a 200-cover restaurant in Spitalfields in the City of London. It will feature a 50-seat Champagne and oyster bar as well as an al fresco bar and dining area for the summer months.

Michel Roux Jr, chef-patron of the two-Michelin-starred Le Gavroche, has been appointed as consultant chef, overseeing the menu of French brasserie classics. Dishes will include rognons de veau, escargots de Bourgogne, and chateaubriand alongside a focus on seafood including oysters and seafood platters. Former Le Gavroche head chef Nicholas Laridan has been appointed as executive head chef.

Proprietor Ian Stoppani told Caterer he had been looking to open a second restaurant for a number of years.

“We initially looked at a site in South Kensington but when the City location came along we decided to solely focus our attention on this project,” he said. “It’s a very exciting location.”

Le Bouchon Bordelaise has been a south London favourite for more than 20 years. Stoppani sold the restaurant’s sister venue Le Bouchon Lyonnais last year.
