10 in 8 Fine Dining Group teams up with Macdonald Hotels
Alan Murchison's 10 in 8 Fine Dining Group has teamed up with Macdonald Hotels & Resorts to open a new restaurant in Oxfordshire.
The company, which earlier this month merged with Nina and Gerard Basset's Hotel TerraVina in the New Forest, will launch its sixth restaurant at the Macdonald Bear Hotel, a 13th-century coaching inn in Woodstock.
Nina Basset, now managing director of the 10 in 8 Fine Dining Group, said: "Coming so soon after the announcement of our merger with Hotel TerraVina, these are very exciting times for the 10 in 8 Fine Dining Group.
"We will be creating an inspiring new dining concept at Macdonald Bear Hotel. We have plans to refurbish the restaurant and bar, sympathetically and in keeping with the original historic building, and our aim is to generate a truly memorable experience for guests."
Alan Swinson, catering director of Macdonald Hotels, added: "This is an exciting development for Macdonald Hotels and we are delighted to have gone into partnership with a group whose food ethos mirrors our own in using fresh ingredients with a commitment to serving top-quality food in terms of sustainability, provenance, seasonality and flavour."
The 10 in 8 Fine Dining Group's offer includes Michelin-starred restaurants L'Ortolan in Berkshire and Paris House in Woburn as well as La Bécasse in Ludlow and the Angel (formerly Angelique) in Dartmouth. The company also runs its Fine Dining Academy Cookery School in Berkshire and Les Caveaux wine, spirits and fine foods club.
Macdonald Hotels operates 48 four- and five-star hotels across England and Scotland, with its various restaurants holding a collective 40 AA rosettes between them. Last year, the group teamed up with Aiden Byrne, chef-proprietor of the Church Green in Lymm, Cheshire, and the Collingwood in West Kirby, to open the Aiden Byrne British Grill at the Craxton Wood hotel near Chester.
