The London Inn Group

Thursday 02 June 2005 18:20

The London Inn Group, trading principally as London & Edinburgh Inns Ltd (L&EI), following incorporation on the 1st July 2003, is now the largest independent multiple public house and hotel group in the UK and currently the 7th largest of all public and private pub operators.

From its Head Office in Maidstone the Group operates nationally and was formed in 1996 by present Executive Chairman, Mr Alan Bowes, who has almost 20 years experience in the industry. He has built up a strong management team, supporting him.

The Group now trades in approximately 800 licensed outlets, through its’ trading divisions. The Group generates an annualised turnover of circa £150m per annum.

Since 1999 London Inns has created and developed 3 distinct divisions, Managed Houses, Tenanted outlets and Hotels. The Group continues to develop these operating entities:-

Hotel & Inns

This division operates the majority of it’s’ outlets under the Swallow Hotel brand, which is the fastest growing hotel brand in the UK. It operates over 75 properties having in excess of 3,500 bedrooms. The portfolio ranges from coaching inns, 3 star hotels, romantic highland castles to luxury hotels with sports & leisure facilities.

Managed Pubs & Restaurants

Through L&EI the Company operates its 110 managed outlets throughout England & Scotland. These units are unbranded and offer our managers the freedom to develop their business to meet the needs of the community. The division has a wider variety of outlets from village inns to high street bars and restaurants.

Tenanted

This division now operates almost 600 public houses in a geography covering the entire UK. There are opportunities here for experienced tenants to develop their business potential or those new to the industry to gain their foot on the ladder.

The Future

The plan is to continue the development of the business through internal growth via deviation of the offering, particularly within the Hotel division, and the acquisition of new sites. Our philosophy is to allow our managers to do just that – manage their business and then share in that success. With the variety of operations within the estate and the desire to develop your career, your CV could become as extensive as out portfolio.
