- Hold trousers upside down. Put bottom hems together and give one firm shake.
- Line seams up and lay the garment on a large, slightly padded surface.
- Lift top leg and press lower leg with very hot steam iron. Care should be taken not to iron any other creases into garment apart from the knife-edge crease.
- Unfold top leg so that it lies perfectly over first leg and press in same way as first.
- Pick up trousers and insert end of ironing board at waistband.
- Press upper trousers around board, rotating trousers by a few inches until whole area is crease-free. Particular care should be taken with pleats, buttons and other fastenings.
- Pick up trousers by cuffs and fold so both legs are flat together. At the Savoy, freshly ironed trousers are hung upside down by the bottom hems and gently steamed to ensure they retain their shape and freshly ironed appearance for longer.
