Daniel Boulud: coming here

Michelin-starred French chef Daniel Boulud is looking to open his first restaurant in the UK, Caterersearch can reveal.

Lyon-born Boulud is understood to be looking at several opportunities in London for his next venture.

One of these is believed to be the former Grill in Hyde Park’s luxury hotel the Mandarin Oriental, although a spokeswoman for the hotel declined to comment.

Despite this, Daniel Boulud’s spokeswoman confirmed to Caterersearch that the Michelin-starred chef, who runs several restaurants in New York City, was looking at a number of sites in London to launch his first UK restaurant.

Boulud shot to fame in New York City in 1993 when he opened Daniel, his first and most celebrated restaurant.

His management company, The Dinex Group, comprises five restaurants and Feast & Fêtes Catering. The restaurants are Café Boulud, DB Bistro Moderne and Bar Boulud in New York City. He has also created Café Boulud in Palm Beach and the Michelin-starred Daniel Boulud Brasserie in Las Vegas.

In April Caterersearch broke the news that Heston Blumenthal, chef patron of the three-Michelin-starred Fat Duck in Bray, Berkshire, was in discussions to launch a restaurant in the former Foliage restaurant site at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park.
