Rhubarb to launch new restaurant at Heathrow's Terminal 3

Catering company Rhubarb is to launch a new restaurant at Heathrow Airport's Terminal 3 next month.

The group previously operated a restaurant at Heathrow from August 2008 to November 2010 but closed it in conjunction with the airport's refurbishment of Terminal 3 and will now open a bigger eaterie on 6 July.

The 130-seat Rhubarb Restaurant and Bar, which the group predicts will turn over around £3.5m a year, will offer a modern British menu serving "approachable and affordable" food.

Dishes will include sandwiches and dishes such as salt and pepper squid and cod-friendly fish and chips, with the menu offering anything from a quick snack to a three-course dinner.

Rhubarb managing director Pieter-Bas Jacobse commented on the launch: "The new look is fresh, contemporary and very stylish. We have evolved our original concept to accommodate a larger format which appeals to discerning travellers who are looking for a quality food offer while in transit."

Rhubarb operates at the Royal Albert Hall and the Saatchi Gallery as well as restaurant Bond & Brook at London fashion store Fenwick.

Last month, the company announced the acquisition of event caterer Eventuate for an undisclosed sum. Rhubarb bought 100% of the share capital and Eventuate will now operate within its Food Design group.
