Sushi restaurant Soseki up for sale

Soseki

Moshi Moshi has put its flagship London sushi restaurant, Soseki, up for sale.

Soseki has occupied a 2,200sq ft site on Bury Street underneath the "Gherkin" since 2008.

Forming part of the Moshi Moshi group, Soseki's menu is inspired by the Japanese concept of "kaiseki-kappo", translated as "Japanese haute cuisine in the kitchen", and ordering is done on the "omakase" principle: instead of a conventional itemised menu, the chefs create different dishes according to what ingredients are available on the day.

Founded by owner Caroline Bennett in 1994, the Moshi Moshi group has two other sites based on the conveyor belt concept, in Liverpool Street and Canary Wharf. Bennett sold the group's fourth site, in Brighton, last year.

Jonathan Moradoff, from property agent Davis Coffer Lyons, which is handling the disposal said: "This site is a fantastic opportunity for an operator who would like to debut or strengthen their representation in the City. The site is located right in the heart of the square mile with views of the Gherkin and benefits from City workers' trade throughout the day. Caroline has built up a very strong name in the industry and created an award-winning brand. We're delighted to handle this disposal for her so she can pursue other interests."

Premium and rental offers are invited.
