The former Roti restaurant in Edinburgh’s Rose Street has been converted into the city’s second Californian restaurant and wine lodge under new owner Gordon Minnis.
Roti was established in the cobbled North Lane of Rose Street by executive chef Tony Singh (who also co-founded the fine-dining Oloroso restaurant) but subsequently moved to Morrison Street in Edinburgh.
Before Roti, the property in Rose Street housed Martins restaurant for 20 years.
It is now Minnis’ second Calistoga Central and Californian Wine Lounge. Its older sibling in St Leonard’s Street was the first Californian restaurant in Scotland..
Occupying the ground and first floor, the new restaurant has a 40-seat main dining room, a 16-seat Californian Wine Lounge and Bar, and a private room for up to 14 people with its own private lounge.
The Edinburgh office of Christie + Co was seeking offers in the region of £20,000 for the leasehold on the property, which was not trading by this point. Annual rent is £21,000.
