Young National Chef of the Year finalists announced

The Craft Guild of Chefs has announced the finalists of this year's Young National Chef of the Year competition.

Now in its second year, the competition is open to 18 to 23-year-old chefs from any sector of the industry, including hotels, restaurants, pubs and contract catering, and complements the main National Chef of the Year contest.

Young National Chef of the Year is run in partnership with Lockhart Catering Equipment, Knorr, Electrolux and Churchill China and the final cook-off will take place at the Restaurant Show on 11 October.

The winner will receive a host of prizes including a trip to Dubai, incorporating five days at the Emirates Hospitality Academy; as well as work experience at three different establishments courtesy of Churchill China.

The Young National Chef of the Year 2011 finalists are:
Glen Noel - The Atlantic Hotel, Ocean Restaurant, Jersey
Brendan Baxter - Restaurant 23 Warren Point, Northern Ireland
Rositsa Nikolova - House of Commons
Jack Allibone - Galvin La Chapelle, London
Andrew Postlethwaite - Castle Green Hotel, Kendal
Garret Keown - The Bell Inn, Horndon-On-The-Hill
Dimitair Angelkouski - Turnberry Resort, Ayrshire
Emily Webb - Royal Garden Hotel, London
