An Essex dinner lady has been sacked after she told a parent his seven-year-old daughter had been attacked by bullies.

Carol Hill, who worked at Great Tey primary school near Colchester, lost her job over a breach in confidentiality, according to the BBC.

She faced a disciplinary hearing last week after she told the girl’s father she had seen other pupils tie her to a fence and whip her with a skipping rope.

The girl’s parents have removed their daughter from the school and say they are “disgusted” by the way Hill has been treated.

A letter informing Hill of her dismissal was delivered yesterday and she now has 10 days to lodge an appeal against the decision.

The school said it would not comment on the detail of the hearing and that subject to any appeal Hill would not be returning to work at the school. It also emphasised the school’s priority to provide the “best possible education” for its pupils.

It is understood Hill intends to appeal.
