Sir Rocco Forte is investigating potential sites to bring his luxury hotel brand to the USA, it emerged today.

The European-based hotelier is scouting locations in Manhattan for one of his first properties across the Atlantic.

He believes a foothold in New York would be an ideal starting point in helping to grow the Rocco Forte brand in the important US market.

The Rocco Forte Collection currently operates 11 high-end hotels throughout Europe, including Brown's in London, the Hotel de Russie in Rome and the Hotel Savoy in Florence.

The company, which has just celebrated its 10th anniversary, recently opened the Charles Hotel in Munich. Today, Forte will unveil a renovation of Le Richemond, a luxury hotel in Geneva.

Next spring the Collection will open a 101-bedroom hotel in Prague, Czech Republic.

It also has plans to open a golf and spa resort in Sicily, and to manage a resort in Marrakech, Morocco.
