Les Deux Salons still popular with restaurant critics

Anthony Demetre and Will Smith's latest restaurant venture, Les Deux Salons, continues to prove popular with the restaurant critics.

The French bistro in the West End impresses The Independent on Sunday's Lisa Markwell, who enjoys a family meal scarcely anything to find fault with, while The Sunday Telegraph's Zoe Williams has just one word for Les Deux Salons: merveilleux.

Meanwhile John Walsh, writing in The Independent, finds a Provencal paradise at Cigalon in the City of London, where the staff are performing small miracles of transformation.

"This is the Provençal outdoors, brought indoors," he enthuses. "Wherever you look, you feel the spirit of a verandah, complete with bee, insect and cricket images."

The Guardian's John Lanchester says the George And Dragon in Clifton, Cumbria, is a top-notch gastropub that hasn't forgotten its roots as a place for locals to meet and drink.

Writing in The Times, Giles Coren reviews Homa - not Noma - a warm, friendly, funky, sociable, cosy, simple, elegant, well-priced and chic restaurant in north London, while the Sunday Times's AA Gill reviews Samarqand, an interesting restaurant with a very Russian menu.

In the Daily Telegraph, Matthew Norman finds glorious food is served at Lebanese restaurant Al Waha, while in The Observer, Jay Rayner reviews the Garrick Street branch of the Aberdeen Angus Steak House in London where the steak isn't too bad but everything else is.
