Andaman at St James's hotel a 'weird place', says critic

Andaman at the St James’s hotel in London is “a weird place”, according to The Times food critic Hugo Rifkind.

Although the food under the direction of German chef Dieter Müller is “really, really, good”, the bill is so “steep to the extent of being vertical”. Rifkind believes with such expensive prices the restaurant surely won’t survive the economic slowdown in its current guise.

In complete contrast Jasper Gerard from the Daily Telegraph is simply blown away by the value for money at the superb Corrigan’s, also in the capital. Gerard is impressed that “a fine two-course lunch” and carafe of wine costs just £19.50, pointing out that you could pay more in a Café Rouge.

Zoe Williams at the The Daily Telegraph visits South London favourite Chez Bruce and finds is still a “remarkable restaurant” after all these years.
