Champany Inn in West Lothian and Ballachulish House in the Highlands have joined the eight-strong list of Michelin starred- restaurants north of the border with one star awards, bringing Scotland’s total haul to 12.

Ballachulish House’s kitchen is run by Darin Campbell, previously head chef at Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles.

Champany Inn is run by husband and wife team Anne and Clive Davidson.

Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles remains the only establishment with two stars in Scotland, but no-one lost a Michelin star.

Scottish restaurants with one star include Summer Isles in the Highlands; Glenapp Castle in South Ayrshire; Braidwoods in North Ayreshire; Inverlochy Castle in Fort William; and Kockinaam Lodge in Dunfries and Galloway. The Kitchen, Number One and Martin Wishart also retained one-star status.
