UK leads European hotel development

The UK is the busiest country in Europe for hotel development, according to the December 2011 STR Global Construction Pipeline Report.

There are currently 11,687 rooms under construction in the UK, while the next four countries with a significant number of rooms in the pipeline are: Russia (8,066 rooms); Turkey (5,227 rooms); Germany (4,969 rooms); and Italy (3,129 rooms).

There are a total of 891 hotels, representing 143,484 rooms, in development across Europe.
