Compass Group has boosted its relationship with utility company National Grid in a blockbuster deal worth £63m in total turnover over five years.

The new contract represents the biggest deal to date for Compass’s recently-formed Eurest Services, which provides both catering and facilities management services to clients.

Eurest Services has retained its existing catering deal across 12 National Grid sites and has also been charged by the client with delivering a range of support services.

The huge deal comprises 579 UK sites including catering (13 sites), security services (38), cleaning (151), portering (18), reception services (22), vending services (293) and key holding (290).

Adrian Lawton, head of property management at National Grid, said: “Throughout the tender process, the Eurest Services bid team consistently demonstrated a ‘can do’ approach to everything that we asked for.

“In this particular sector, whilst price is clearly important, it is more about ‘feeling’ confident that the services can actually be delivered.”

Graham Sims, managing director of Eurest Services, said he was delighted by the win, adding that it demonstrated the business’s ability to manage complex multi-site support services.

Compass Group has had an extremely busy start to the New Year with contract wins with Mercedes-Benz World, the Maltings in Cambridgeshire and Lansdowne Road stadium
