Harbour & Jones (H&J) has scored a hat trick of new contract wins in the capital worth in excess of £3.5m.

The boutique contract caterer won new business at the British Standards Institution (BSI) Group, the Medical Defence Union and investment managers JM Finn & Co over a three month period.

Patrick Harbour, director and co-founder of H&J said: “It’s been a tough business climate, but we’re very encouraged by our performance in the last three months.”

The most recent win saw H&J take up a three-year rolling contract at the Medical Defence Union earlier this month. The contract for the not-for-profit organisation based in Southwark is worth around £250,000 a year. H&J is providing a full hospitality service and staff trolley to the 300 people on site.

Meanwhile H&J began a new contract at the BSI in Chiswick, west London, the world’s first national standards body, in January. The deal is worth £2.5m over five years.

The contract, previously held by Compass Group, was won following a competitive tender process managed by Stern Consultancy. H&J now operates the staff restaurant for around 700 people on site and provides hospitality services. Annual turnover at this site is currently £500,000.

Across town in the City, H&J took over the hospitality and fine-dining services at investment management firm JM Finn & Co from in-house caterers. The rolling contract with an initial period of two years is worth £178,000 in annual turnover.

Foraging – why all the attention?

Using foraged ingredients is nothing new but the trend has become more mainstream over the past two years. However, the wider use of foraged food in restaurants also carries a certain amount of danger.
