Countess of Wessex opens school restaurant

Contract caterer Cucina has welcomed Sophie, Countess of Wessex, at the launch of a new learning block and school restaurant.

The countess opened the new facilities, which were were the final phase of ongoing work to complete Arthur Mellows Village College in Peterborough.

She was shown around the restaurant and kitchens by head of college, Mike Sandman, and managing director and owner of secondary school catering specialists Cucina, Steve Quinn.

Quinn said: "The countess was really interested in what we were doing here to make a difference. She commented on how it seemed so different from when she was at school."

The countess spent time speaking to staff and students, including Ryan Lenton and Emma Child, who explained about the Bistro Evenings run in the school restaurant with Cucina.

Nicola Evans-Reid and Rosie Reynolds both Year 8 students also introduced Cucina staff and spoke generally about healthy school dinners.
