Four new general managers to join Master Innholders
Four new general managers are to join the prestigious Master Innholders this year.
Graeme Bateman, managing director of Elite Hotels; the Dorchester's general manager, Roland Fasel; Klaus Kabelitz, general manager at the Berkeley and the Metropolitan and Halkin's regional general manager Thomas Orchard form the new intake for 2009.
Bateman has been managing director at Elite, which owns Ashdown Park in Sussex, Tylney Hall in Hampshire, The Grand Eastbourne and the new Luton Hoo Hotel, Golf and Spa, since 2000.
Fasel joined the Dorchester last year after managing the InterContinental Hotel at Hyde Park Corner during its refurbishment and re-opening periods. He is also responsible for the two new Dorchester Collection hotels under construction in the UK, at 45 Park Lane and Coworth Park.
Kabelitz has been general manager at the Berkeley for the last five years, following several years as hotel manager at Claridge's.
Since 2000, Orchard has been general manager of the Halkin, then the Metropolitan, then both hotels. Prior to that, he spent five years at the Berkeley.
Andrew McKenzie, chairman of the Master Innholders, said: "Once again we have a new intake who epitomise what the organisation stands for in terms of excellence.
"These are four managers at the top of their career, all running prestigious hotel operations, whilst still finding time to contribute to the industry as a whole and the wider community."
