Alan Jackson receives award

Army caterer Paul Jackson has received one of the army’s highest accolades in recognition of his professionalism and service.

Jackson, who is part of the Ministry of Defence’s Catering Group (DCG), has been named Army Conductor, of which there are only 17 in the army.

Warrant officer Jackson is responsible for overseeing the logistics of feeding British troops serving in Iraqi, the Balkans, Afghanistan, Norway and Belize.

He said: “I have had some tough tours in war zones but the teamwork and professionalism of the army team have always carried me through.”

The DCG is part of the Defence Logistics Organisation and is responsible for the quality, supply and types of meals prepared in the Armed Forces.

The title of conductor is one of the oldest still awarded today by the British Army and can be traced back 650 years.
