Pub operator Burtonwood has reported increased sales and profits in both its managed and tenanted pubs divisions in the year to 3 April.
The company, which sold off its brewing interests at the end of the financial year to concentrate on its pubs, said sales in its managed estate were up by 9% to £16.28m.
Operating profit rose by 11% to £3.32m and like-for-like sales were up by 7%.
In the tenanted pubs, turnover increased by 4% to £33.78m and operating profit by 9% to £13.59m.
Like-for-like sales were 6% higher than last year.
Burtonwood yesterday bought a package of 16 tenanted pubs in Yorkshire for £6m.
The company said its managed pubs were avoiding the issues of overcapacity on the high-street and the problems of drink-fuelled violence as they were traditional, community pubs and did not rely on cheap drinks promotions.
At the end of the financial year Burtonwood had a total of 449 pubs, 41 of them managed and 408 tenanted.
