Three-Michelin-star chef Heston Blumenthal and celebrity chef Jamie Oliver have been appointed honorary vice-chairmen of Hospitality Action's Ark Foundation in a bid to help raise awareness of alcohol and drug abuse in the hospitality industry. Oliver, owner of Fifteen in London's Hoxton, said he puts all his catering students through the Ark Foundation's educational programme to make them aware of these issues.
Blumenthal added that he thought the work Ark did with the industry was "imperative".
According to Ark, 10% of the industry's workforce suffers from addiction.
