Hotels in the South West of England experienced a rise in revenue per available room (revpar) of 5% during August this year, compared to the same month in 2005, according to figures from The Bench. Revpar rose from £52.89 in August to £55.53.
Occupancy climbed from 75% in August 2005 to 77.2%, while average room rate increased by 2% to £71.95, up from 70.53.

The Bench - which is partnered with US firm Smith Travel Research - provides online benchmarking data for in excess of 34,000 hotels in more than 400 markets.
The online service allows users to track their performance in average room rate, occupancy and revpar in a variety of formats and to measure their daily performance against their competitors.
