Corus Hotels is to spend £4m refurbishing its central London flagship hotel as part of a rebranding exercise for its three UK properties.
The 209-bedroom Plaza on Hyde Park will be rebranded the Corus Hotel Hyde Park and undergo a major refurbishment programme. The programme, which will see all the bedrooms, meeting rooms and the Hydes restaurant revamped in a "bright, contemporary" style, is scheduled to start in November and end next July.
The group will also rename its 62-bedroom Honily Court Hotel and Conference Centre in Warwick and 94-bedroom Madison Inn in Swindon as the Corus Hotel Warwick and Corus Hotel Swindon respectively.
Over the past 12 months Corus has spent about £5m improving the meeting and conference facilities, bedrooms and public areas of its hotels.
"Quite simply, we want to be the number-one midmarket hotel chain in the UK," said Corus sales and marketing director Philip Moston. "These three hotels will be renamed because we want our customers to understand that they will receive the same high standards of service and facilities across the entire Corus chain of hotels."
Corus has more than 70 hotels throughout the UK, Malaysia and Australia.
